Ever wondered how to make the first step onto the Diving Professional Ladder? Well, we’ll be following the progress of one of the newest Cayman Island residents, Abbey, throughout her training from Open Water Diver to Dive Master.
Abbey joined us all the way from the Sunshine Coast in Australia.
“My boyfriend and I moved here just over a month ago now. We had this awesome opportunity to live and work here (in Grand Cayman) through Hayden, my boyfriends’ family. Ron Hargrave, is the owner of Crystal Sea charters and Tukka restaurant. I work at Tukka and Hayden is the new boat captain!”
Already having tried scuba diving back in Australia; just last week Abbey completed her SSI Open Water course with Natz. She’s now hooked and keen to continue her diving career.
“I chose diving because I am in no doubt one of the best places in the world to do it and diving is so easily accessible for me. I love diving here because of the lifestyle. Any day off I have or a late start, Im always trying to get a dive in. There is so much to see here and like i said diving is so accessible.”
“I want to dive the kittiwake wreck because its just out of George town, that would be my first choice as its acheiveable for me right now. After that, i’d love to dive throughout Indonesia and of course check out some incredible diving back home! Lately all I want to do is dive, I honestly can’t get enough.”
“I found out about White sand through both word of mouth and just seeing the cars around town. Personally, I’m really enjoying the training. When you are with the instructors you can see they are all so passionate and they genuinely want you to do well and to have an awesome dive. It’s not just about the numbers they get through, its a personal and hands on approach!”
If you come to The Cayman Islands you can find Abbey underwater or at Tukka Restaurant, which comes highly recommended by ALL the White Sand staff.
