Well this is the last in our staff blogs for now as we only have a small but amazing team working at White Sand Diving. We hope that you have all enjoyed getting to know our team a little more.
Our final team member is somewhat of a newbie but somewhat not. Also from Hungerford England, Mr. Lydon Benson.
Why did you choose to get into diving?
I have dived for as long as I can remember, my father is a diver and he got me in to it as soon as I was old enough to blow bubbles underwater. So for me diving has always been apart of my life.
Where have you dived around the world?
I have dived in England, Cyprus, Malta, Greece, the Canary Islands, Thailand, Philippines, Dominican Republic, and now Grand Cayman.
Where was your favorite dive spot around the world so far?
My favorite dive spot so far is between Cayman and the Philippines. The Philippines has amazing, healthy coral life and big, interesting creatures while Cayman has the perfectly clear blue water and awesome wall dives! And not forgetting the sharks! I love the sharks!
Where would you still like to go diving that you haven’t been yet?
There are so many places I’d like to dive still! To name a few…. the Sea of Cortez, French Polynesia, The Bahamas, Mexico, South Africa, Florida Sinkholes, Greenland and the list goes on!
What brought you to the Cayman Islands?
I came to Cayman because I am a good friend of Laura, who is George’s wife and in turn became good friends with George. They invited me here and opened up their home to me and I guess I somewhat fell for the place. So I ended up staying and now I work with George.
What do you love about Cayman diving?
I love the sharks, and the beautiful color of the water.
What do you like about working at White Sand Diving (WSD)?
I love that I get to work along side my best friend and I love the responsibility and trust that is put in us everyday.
What is your favorite dive spot in the Caymans?
My favorite dive spot in Cayman has probably got be the Orange Canyon on the west wall. The name speaks for itself.
Lydon is a huge follower of the Sea Shepard foundation and loves talking about marine life especially sharks as you may have noticed throughout this blog. So if you ever have any questions about sharks or any marine life please do not hesitate to ask him. Or any of the other crew members for that matter. They chose diving as a lifestyle because they love what it has to offer!
WSD is a small but fun dive company and we would love to be able to showcase that to you so please send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or give us a call +1 (345) 936-7263 to say hi and book your next dive adventure with this amazing crew!
