It’s time to get to know the next staff member of White Sand Diving (WSD). I would like to introduce ‘the jack of all trades’ when it comes to diving – Miss Annabelle Halket from Surrey, England. Continue reading to find out more!
Why did you choose to get in to diving?
I started diving because I saw my local BSAC (British Sub-Aqua Club) training in the pool after my swimming lessons and I just asked to try it. I got my BSAC Ocean Diver in the UK and then went on a Marine Conservation trip with GapForce in Fiji and continued diving up to PADI Rescue Diver. I then completed my Dive Master and Instructor courses whilst I was at University.
Where have you been diving?
UK, Fiji, Singapore, Thailand, Malta & Gozo, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Norway (Arctic Circle) & Cayman.
Favourite dive spot?
Don’t have a favourite yet… but for cold water diving, I still love UK diving. The wrecks around Cornwall are awesome. They have some German U-boats from WW2 that are pretty impressive. My favourite warm water diving (at the moment) is the Cayman Islands.
Where would you like to dive?
I would really like to dive Truk Lagoon in Micronesia. But ultimately I would be happy diving any cave system!
What brought you to the Cayman Islands?
I didn’t really pick Cayman I ideally wanted to be in a hot country. So whilst I was in Norway I applied for 5 dive jobs in random HOT countries, George was the first person to reply to me… so I decided to come to the Cayman Islands.
What do you love about Cayman diving?
I love the variety and how easily accessible the diving around the island is. I also like the fact that I don’t have to wear a drysuit.
What do you like about working at White Sand Diving (WSD)?
A dive job is a dive job…but the thing I like most about working with WSD is the people I work with. It always makes things easier when you get along with everyone and you work well together. I feel that this is key to making a job worthwhile and it also sets the grounds to provide the best possible service to our customers.
Favourite dive spot in Cayman?
Snapper Hole!
